"Warm Up America" Afghan and Prayer Shawl Ministries

Sam, Pat, Susan, and Mother Tina with afghans and prayer shawls   A basketfull of blessings     Bill receives an afghan from the parish    Kathy wears her prayer shawl   the finished "Warm Up America" afghan

Parishioners, including Samuel Sommers, Pat Zanka, Susan Adamek, and Mother Tina, along with others, have contributed to the Healing Shawl ministry and the "Warm Up America" afghan ministry. The handmade items are blessed before distributing them.

Included with each Healing Shawl is this enclosure:
"This healing shawl is a gift to you. It was made by a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity. Each time a person picked up yarn to work on this shawl, they prayed, ‘May God’s grace be upon this shawl—warming, comforting, enfolding and embracing. May this mantle be a safe haven—a sacred place of security and well being, sustaining and embracing in good times as well as difficult ones. May the one who receives this shawl be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace, and wrapped in love. Amen.’ We hope that each time you wrap this shawl around your shoulders, it will bring you a sense of God’s peace and healing, as well as the love of this parish family."

For Mother's Day, the parish gathered donations for Hannah's House, including crocheted afghans, baby sweaters, a quilt, diapers, and other items for new mothers and babies. After blessing the items at the altar, they were received by Melinda, representing Hannah's House. If you would like to donate items, contact a Hospitality Committee member.
